Recently, Shuzo Nagumo, a legendary Japanese mixology expert and founder of Mixology Group, returned to Ômm Mixology for an exclusive event celebrating the art of Japanese tea cocktails.

As a pioneer in introducing vacuum distillation and centrifugal separation techniques to the Japanese bar industry, Shuzo, with over 20 years of experience, is considered a symbol of the fusion of science and innovation.

"Technique is fundamental, but what truly touches people is the idea – the concept is the script for each cocktail," Shuzo shared during the event.

Three Japanese tea cocktails— Genmai & Eucalyptus Shandy , Hoji et Paradis , and Green Tea Fashioned— were the highlights of the evening. Each represented a chapter in the dialogue between the minimalist sophistication of Japan and the free-spirited emotions of Vietnam:

  • Genmai & Eucalyptus Shandy evokes a feeling of lightness and tranquility.

  • Hoji et Paradis combines roasted tea with tropical sweetness.

  • Green Tea Fashioned uses single-origin matcha from Kyoto, bringing depth and tranquility to the experience.

For Shuzo, sophistication is expressed through flavor, in every movement, and in the smallest details of the bartender. “Just one milliliter off can change the entire feel of a cocktail,” he shares, demonstrating a bartending philosophy built on precision, focus, and refined taste.

During the conversation, Shuzo also spoke about his creative journey. He draws inspiration from tea farmers, local ingredients, and moments of cultural exchange. One of his notable creations is the "Primitive" cocktail, a blend of Vietnamese herbs and chili peppers, showcasing the fusion of culinary arts and bartending.

“Vietnam has a very strong creative energy,” Shuzo continued, “When Japanese sophistication meets Vietnamese openness, new forms of expression will emerge.”

This event once again affirms Ômm's vision: a space where mixology becomes an art form and opens up a dialogue between cultures. Come to Ômm to enjoy cocktails, to explore creativity, to savor each layer of flavor, and to create unforgettable experiences.
