Have A Single Shot: An Evening of Unplanned Encounters with Thùy Minh at oMM Mixology

On Saturday 8 August 2026, oMM Mixology hosted Have A Single Shot – an evening for meeting people you didn't plan to meet. Hosted by Thùy Minh, the night began with a few signature shots and opened into unexpected conversations between friends and strangers alike. It is one of the community gatherings oMM holds alongside its regular guest shift series, built around the idea that a good drink is best shared.

What is Have A Single Shot?

The idea starts with something simple: a drink can be a small ritual you keep with yourself. Raise that glass with the right person, though, and the ritual becomes the start of a conversation – and a conversation that keeps going can turn into a story worth carrying with you.

Have A Single Shot invites guests to do exactly that, whether they arrive alone or with friends. As Thùy Minh put it in her invitation, "it's the stories we collect that become the moments we remember most."

Who is Thùy Minh?

Thùy Minh is one of Vietnam's best-known hosts and storytellers. She is the voice behind Have A Sip, Vietcetera's long-running conversation podcast, which passed its 200th episode with Thùy Minh herself stepping into the guest's chair (Vietcetera). Her career in content began at the youth magazine Hoa Học Trò and moved through print, television and digital media (Vietcetera). Across all of it, her craft has stayed the same: asking good questions and making people feel comfortable enough to answer honestly – which is exactly what an evening of strangers needs.

The night: a shot, a stranger, a story

From 8 PM until late, the bar and gallery space at oMM filled with guests trading signature shots and stories. Some came with a plan to meet new people; others simply stayed for one more round once the conversation got good. Surrounded by artworks and soft light, with bartenders working the open bar in full view, the evening moved at its own pace – closer to a gathering of friends than a formal event.

Three shots, three steps

The signature shots were designed as a journey in three beats, following the way a new friendship unfolds:

• Vietnamese Xocoatle – a little curiosity, enough to raise a glass and send the first invitation.

• White Fleur – opening up, as the conversation turns into getting to know each other.

• Primitive – finding a deeper resonance in the stories you've shared.

Why oMM is a place for connection
